A bit of history…

Originally designed for the US Army Air Corp in 1927, the A1 replaced the cumbersome and long jackets that were worn by aircraft pilots until then. In this times zippers had not been invented yet, this is why it features an 8-button fastening. Very close to the original design, the Chapal version of the A1 also features waist, cuffs and collar woolen knitted rib, under-arm eyelet vents, two-patched pockets and genuine horn buttons.
