History Chapalac

In 1968, the Chapalac marked the big return of clothing at Chapal.
After having made the hostesses’ outfits in scalloped rabbit skins for Grenoble Winter Olympic Games, Chapal moved closer to the booming French motorsports and promoted a new image. Famous drivers Jean-Pierre Beltoise, Henri Pescarolo and François Cevert were chosen as ambassadors.
According to a drawing by Henri Chemin, Ford France’s communication director, the Chapalac jacket was born.

This unique model made from lacquered rabbit skins is available in a multitude of colors following the trends of fashion in the 1970s.
Today, we offer it in sheep or goat leather with a special hood, made with authentic French rabbit skins from our 50+ year-old stock.

The contrast in material and color between the jacket and the hood gives it all its historical strength.
