History
CHAPAL is renewing its collaboration with Kelton for a new limited edition of the Chronograph 1972 with two new graphical dials and four straps un “pop-rock” colors.
This new partnership is an ode to the 1970s, so dear to the two French brands.
Kelton designed a dial with two roundels in inverted colors (French on the left, American on the right). It recalls the dual Franco-American heritage of the two brands and CHAPAL’s involvement in the manufacture of military jackets for French aviators during World War I, followed by its involvement on the American side in 1939.
CHAPAL offers a remarkable squadron of two-tone “pop-rock” straps on glossy lacquered CHAPALAC leather. This leather plastification process was invented by CHAPAL and used on US Air Force jackets during World War II, then in the 1970s on bright colored rabbit skins.
This chronograph is powered by the SR 1901 caliber, heir to the legendary Venus 175, a hand-wound movement developed in Switzerland in the 1940s.
The watch is assembled in France and is, ti this day, the most accomplished model ever designed and produced by Kelton; as is its strap, handmade by the craftsmen of Maison CHAPAL.
