A bit of history…

In 1931, the US Army introduced an improved version of its A1 jacket called the A2 jacket. The buttoned front was replaced with a sturdy brass zipper, and a leather shirt collar replaced the knitted-rib one. It also features shoulder straps. It is probably the most seen flight jackets in movies like The Great Escape (on Steve McQueen) or The Flying Tigers (on John Wayne).
