A bit of history…

During World War I, the already 80 years old Chapal takes part into the war effort by creating jackets and overalls for aircraft pilots. A double-breasted leather jacket with large notch lapels is created and soon will be adopted by pilots, including some famous names. George Guynemer, the legendary pilot from the Escadrille des Cigognes is one of them. More than hundred years later, the 1914 jacket remained pretty much unchanged with its large flap-pockets and leather belt. It has become a more luxurious jacket though thanks to its detachable sheep fur collar, its horn buttons and very soft silk lining.
